Before I post a E-Class on www.dgulleydesigns.com, I always start my sewing journey by creating a test/sample garment for each class. I go through the complete process by creating the patterns, and then I sew the actual garment.
By creating the test garment first, I am able to analyze the fit, the construction, and the style of the garment to see if the vision in my head will actually come to life. Sometimes, I hit it right on the mark other times I miss the mark.
Since Inspired By Lace is the first online, d.i.y 2-in-1 pattern-making & sewing class featured on this website, I wanted to do my best. I will admit, creating this garment cause me some inner anxiety and stress.
First, it took me a week to finalized what type of fabric I was going to use. I mention in an early post that I could not make up my mind between using the black and white printed fabric with the black contrasting band or used the multi-print fabric with the black contrasting band.
I eventually decided on using the multi-print fabric with the black contrasting band.
After I selected the fabric that I was going to use, the sewing process was on.
I knew for the test garment, I wanted the tunic blouse to have a circular edge. In the actual class, I used a square edge.
After I finished sewing the test garment, I was satisfied. I knew right away the changes that I were going to make to the actual class.
Stay tune. I will be adding the first E-class to DGulleyDesigns.com real soon.
